Run Lola Run is a 1998 German thriller directed by Tom Tykwer, starring Franka Potente as Lola and Moritz Bleibtreu as Manni. Lola must find 100,000 marks in 20 minutes to save her boyfriend, who has gotten into trouble with his boss after losing a bag of money.

The story runs in three quick timelines. In each version, a small choice changes what happens next. In the first run, Lola’s efforts end in tragedy. In the second, Lola tries different actions, including a bank plan, but things still go wrong. In the third, Lola uses a mix of luck and determination, even a casino win, and the ending changes again. The film shows how chance, decisions, and fate can shape a life, and it features a mysterious blind woman who seems to know more than she lets on.

The movie is known for its fast pace, bold visuals, and a strong, energetic score. It cost about $1.75 million to make and earned around $23.7 million worldwide. It won several awards and was Germany’s pick for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars, though it did not receive a nomination. Run Lola Run has influenced many films, music videos, and even video games, and it remains highly praised by critics.
