RD S.A., also known as RD Saúde, is the largest drugstore company in Latin America by revenue and market value. Based in São Paulo, Brazil, it operates more than 3,000 pharmacies nationwide across all 27 states under the Raia and Drogasil brands, supported by 14 distribution centers. It also runs a strong online presence through its mobile apps and websites, which accounted for about 15.2% of 2023 retail revenues. In 2023, RD S.A. reported revenue of BRL 34.0 billion and net income of BRL 1,087.1 million, and it had around 57,708 employees in early 2024. The group serves roughly 47.5 million active customers and held about 15.5% of the Brazilian pharmacy market in 2023.
RD S.A. was created in 2011 from the merger of Droga Raia (founded 1905) and Drogasil (founded 1935). It was listed on the B3 stock exchange and joined the Ibovespa index in 2015. The brand was simplified to RD in 2017 and rebranded to RD Saúde in 2024 as the company expanded from retail into broader health services. Its four-pillar strategy focuses on Health Promotion, Prevention, Protection (vaccination), and Primary Care to address both everyday health needs and acute conditions. Competitors include Grupo DPSP, Pague Menos, and Farmácias São João. Key leaders are Antonio Carlos Pipponzi (Chairman) and Marcilio D'Amico Pousada (CEO).
