PAO Thriamvos Athens
PAO Thriamvos Athinon (Greek: ΠΑΟ Θρίαμβος Αθηνών) is a Greek sports club from Athens. It was founded in 1930, originally as Mikrasiatiki Athens and later as Doxa Athens. The club has teams in football, basketball and handball. It is based in the Neos Kosmos district, and because some teams use facilities in the nearby Dafni area, it is sometimes called PAO Thriamvos Athinon/Dafnis.
In its early history, the club existed as Thriamvos Harokopou and Thriamvos Cynosarges. It was dissolved during World War II and re-founded in 1967 after the merger of Phoebus Athens and Doxa Athens. Doxa Athens was founded in 1930 as Mikrasiatiki Athens, while Phoebus Athens began in 1946. Since the predecessors’ founding dates, the club is commonly considered to have been founded in 1930.
PAO Thriamvos Athens colors are green and blue. The club’s best competitive run was eight seasons in Gamma Ethniki, the third division of Greek football, from 1983 to 1992. The club’s most important achievement is winning the Greek Women’s Basketball Cup in 1998, its only panhellenic title to date.
