Prison in the Andes
Prison in the Andes
Prison in the Andes is a 2023 Chilean drama film directed by Felipe Carmona in his first feature. It follows five brutal torturers from the Pinochet dictatorship who are kept in a luxurious prison called Penal Cordillera at the foot of the Andes. The facility has a pool, gardens, and aviaries, and the guards feel more like staff than guards. The inmates fear being moved to a regular prison and will do anything to stay where they are. When a TV crew interviews one inmate, Contreras, his statements spark trouble, and the men lash out in delirium and violence in the mountains.
