Wherever I Stand is Taproot's first single from their fourth album, Our Long Road Home. It was released on November 17, 2008 and recorded that year at The Loft in Saline, Michigan. The song is 3 minutes and 26 seconds long and falls under alternative rock/post-grunge. It was released on Velvet Hammer and written by Mike DeWolf, Stephen Richards, Phil Lipscomb, and Jarrod Montague; produced by Tim Palatan. This was the band's first single not released through Atlantic Records.

The music video shows a couple arguing on a couch. The girlfriend changes clothes and leaves. The man recalls their happy times, like a day at the lake, and then goes after her, finding her by the lake.
