Potential Tropical Cyclone Four is a label used by the National Hurricane Center for weather systems that could become tropical storms or hurricanes. The “Four” simply marks it as the fourth potential cyclone in a season. In different years, different systems have carried this designation. Each one either develops into a named storm or dissipates without becoming a tropical cyclone.
