Franjo Kajfež (15 February 1936 – 23 April 2004) was a Croatian chemist. He studied at the Faculty of Technology in Zagreb, earning a degree in 1959 and a PhD in 1968. In 1960 he began working at Pliva in Zagreb. He was director of the Institute of Medicines in Novi Sad from 1961 to 1971 and later director of the CRC Development Research Society in Switzerland from 1971 to 1979. He worked on the synthesis of organic compounds, especially medicines. He served as Minister of Industry, Naval Architecture and Energy from 1992 to 1993, led Krapina-Zagorje County from 1993 to 1995, and was Counselor to the President for Local Self-Government and Technological Development from 1995 to 2000. He held 88 patents and wrote 150 scientific papers.
