2000 WNBA expansion draft

On December 15, 1999, the WNBA held its third expansion draft to stock four new teams: Indiana Fever, Miami Sol, Portland Fire, and Seattle Storm, for the 2000 season. Each new team could pick six players from the existing 12 WNBA teams to start their rosters. The draft order was determined by a random drawing. To protect their rosters, each existing team could shield five players from 1999. If a player from a team was selected in the expansion draft, that team could then protect three more players. No players were allocated by the league because there weren’t four players of equal ability available to distribute.
