Ned and Stacey
Ned and Stacey is an American sitcom created by Michael J. Weithorn. It stars Thomas Haden Church as Ned Dorsey and Debra Messing as Stacey Colbert. The show ran for two seasons on Fox, from September 11, 1995, to January 27, 1997, with 46 episodes produced (11 unaired in the original run).
The premise centers on Ned, who needs a wife to get a promotion at his ad agency, and Stacey, a freelance journalist living with her parents in New York who can’t afford her own apartment. She agrees to pretend to be Ned’s wife so he can advance professionally and so she can move out. In the first season they try to keep the marriage fake while dating others; in the second season Stacey moves out and they date other people, with their constant bickering hinting at real romance before the show was canceled. The series was produced by Hanley Productions and TriStar Television. Reruns have aired on various networks, and the complete series was released on DVD in 2017.
