Liberté chérie (association)
Liberté Chérie, meaning “Cherished Liberty,” is a French association founded in March 2001. It started with the name Liberté j’écris ton nom. The group became well known on 15 June 2003, when about 80,000 people gathered in Paris to support reforms and oppose blockages and government worker strikes. It promotes libertarian values in society and in the media. By January 2004, Liberté Chérie had become a federation of associations across France. Some former members helped start Alternative Libérale. The name comes from a line in a Paul Eluard poem. The founder was Édouard Fillias; the chairman was Vincent Ginocchio; and the spokesman was Jeannette Jaussaud.
