National Museum of Education (Albania)
National Museum of Education is in Korçë, Albania. It is housed in the building of the first Albanian school, opened on March 7, 1887, known as Mësonjëtorja. The building, dating from the 1840s, is a Monument of Culture and was donated by Diamanti Tërpo. It served as a school until 1902, then as a prison under Ottoman rule until the Young Turk Revolution, after which the Albanian school reopened and formed Banda e Lirisë in 1908. The school functioned until 1967, when it became the National Museum of Education.
The museum shows the history of Albanian writing, including the first alphabet by Naum Veqilharxhi and the second alphabet by Kostandin Kristoforidhi. It features portraits of patriots such as Pandeli Sotiri, Petro Nini Luarasi, and Nuçi Naçi, as well as books and objects used by pupils and patriots. Visitors can see the office of the early director Nuçi Naçi and the Visitors Book. The collection also includes two early editions of the Albanian alphabet from 1844 and 1845.
