Mission sui iuris of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha
Mission sui iuris of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha is a small Catholic jurisdiction that serves the islands of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic. It is part of the Latin Church and uses the Roman Rite. The mission reports directly to the Pope (the Holy See) and was created on August 18, 1986, when it was separated from the Archdiocese of Cape Town. From the start, its ecclesiastical superior has been the Apostolic Prefecture of the Falkland Islands.
