Mount Ciremai National Park
Mount Ciremai National Park, also known as Taman Nasional Gunung Ciremai, is in West Java, Indonesia. It sits about 50 kilometers south of Cirebon and extends into the Kuningan and Majalengka regencies. The park surrounds Mount Ciremai, an active volcano that is the highest peak in West Java. Hiking to the summit is popular, and groups including students often visit, but hikers should be careful and follow safety rules.
The park protects many plants and animals that are unique to the area or endangered. It also provides the headwaters for several rivers, including the Cimanuk and Cisanggarung basins, whose streams flow into the Java Sea.
