Macedonia at the 2004 Summer Olympics
Macedonia competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, from August 13 to 29. The team had 10 athletes (7 men and 3 women) who competed in five sports. Blagoja Georgievski, a former basketball player and 1976 Olympic silver medalist, was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony.
Seven Macedonians had previously competed in Sydney, including slalom kayaker Lazar Popovski, who became the first Macedonian to appear in four Olympic Games (his first in 1992 as part of the Independent Olympic Participants), and freestyle wrestler Mogamed Ibragimov, who won bronze in the 84 kg class at Sydney.
Macedonia did not win any medals in Athens, the first time since its Olympic debut in 1996. The sports were athletics, shooting, swimming, canoe/kayak slalom, and wrestling.
