Micraspis discolor is a small ladybird (ladybug). It was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1798. This beetle is found across Asia, North America, and parts of Oceania, including Bangladesh, China, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Vietnam, the United States, Hawaii, and Tonga. It is about 5 to 6 mm long. Adults are reddish orange and oval, with black stripes on the wing covers (elytra).

It is a common sight in rice fields, especially during flowering, and it often feeds on pollen. It can be used as a natural predator to help control brown planthopper populations. Micraspis discolor feeds on both insects and plants. Both adults and young nymphs prey on many pests, including aphids, planthoppers, and leafhoppers (such as Aphis craccivora, Aphis gossypii, Aphis spiraecola, Leptocorisa acuta, Myzus persicae, Nephotettix cincticeps, Opisina arenosella, Pentalonia nigronervosa, and Sogatella furcifera).
