Dirty Blvd.
Dirty Blvd. is a song by Lou Reed from his 1989 album New York. It was released as a single in February 1989 and was recorded in 1988 at Mediasound Studio B in New York City. The song runs 3:29 and was written by Reed, who produced it with Fred Maher for the Sire label.
Lyrically, it contrasts the lives of the poor and the rich in New York City and became a hit on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, staying at number one for four weeks in early 1989. Live versions appear on Perfect Night: Live in London (1998) and Animal Serenade (2004). Reed also performed Dirty Blvd. with David Bowie at Bowie's 50th birthday celebration in 1997. Musically, it uses a simple three-chord pattern (G-D-A-D).
