Craig Alpert is an American film editor known for editing comedies. He was born on August 16, 1973, in Pasadena, California, and grew up in Irvine. He studied at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and did internships at Industrial Light & Magic and Miramax. His first editing job was as an assistant editor on Toy Story 2 (1999). He later worked as an additional editor on Meet the Fockers (2004) and The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005). His first films as the main editor were Borat (2006) and Knocked Up (2007). Since 2006 he has edited two dozen films, mostly comedies. He and fellow editors were nominated for the American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film – Comedy for Deadpool 2 (2018) and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020). He edited Pitch Perfect 2 (2015), applying his humor experience to musical, especially a cappella, performances. He served as an additional editor on The Suicide Squad (2021) for James Gunn and later worked with Gunn on Superman (2025), collaborating with editor William Hoy.
