Loreto College, Marryatville
Loreto College Marryatville is an independent Roman Catholic day and boarding school for girls in Marryatville, Adelaide, South Australia. Established in 1905 by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), it now educates about 1,000 students from Reception to Year 12, including around 70 boarders.
The school began as the Loreto Convent in Norwood in 1905 with five students. It moved to Eastry Street and The Parade in Norwood, and in 1920 relocated to The Acacias in Marryatville. A new schoolhouse opened in 1921, and over the years the campus expanded with new wings and facilities, including a science lab, a gym, and spaces for the arts and boarding. The Acacias building is currently used as the boardroom.
In 2006, Loreto opened the Loreto Bapthorpe Early Learning Centre, a co-educational preschool and early learning facility. Other developments include the St Gertrude’s Music Centre (2007) and St Anne’s Performing Arts Centre (2010). The school also added a Hospitality and Food Technology Centre (2006) and a dedicated junior and senior school layout.
In January 2026, the school announced plans to restore The Acacias building, led by heritage artist Marisha Matthews with architects Woods Bagot.
Loreto Marryatville uses a four-house system, with students representing their houses at annual events such as the swimming carnival, athletics, and the performing arts festival.
