Burns is a small town in Dickson County, Tennessee, about 5 miles east of the city of Dickson and part of the Nashville metro area. It had 1,573 residents in 2020 and covers about 3.4 square miles.

Location and roads
Burns sits at the crossroads of Tennessee State Routes 47 and 96. Route 47 goes through the center and connects Burns to Dickson to the west (about 5 miles) and White Bluff to the northeast (about 7 miles). Route 96 runs through the town and connects to U.S. Route 70 and I-40 within a short drive.

Geography
The town is almost all land, with a very small amount of water area.

People and economy
As of 2020, Burns had 1,573 people living in 627 households. The community is mostly White, with small numbers of other races. The median household income in the area, based on older data, was around $38,000.

Government
Burns uses a mayor-council form of government. There are four council members elected at large every two years, and the mayor is elected every two years. Meetings and work sessions are held regularly to run the town.
