London, France
London is a small farming village in eastern France. It is part of the commune of Savigny-sur-Seille, in the arrondissement of Louhans, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy. The village is about 80 kilometers south of Dijon, and the D206 road passes through it. In 2012, just before the London Olympics, bookmaker Paddy Power staged a publicity stunt there: they sponsored an egg-and-spoon race and then posted large ads in Britain claiming they were the “official sponsor of the largest athletics event in London this year,” with a line saying “Ahem, London France that is.” The Olympic organizers ordered the posters removed because only official Games sponsors may advertise about the Games, but they backed down after Paddy Power threatened to sue.
