La mauvaise tête
La mauvaise tête (A Head for Crime) is the eighth album in the Spirou et Fantasio series, created by Franquin. It was published in 1957 by Dupuis as a hardcover, after being serialized in Spirou magazine (issues 840–869). The story follows Fantasio, who is wrongly accused of stealing a priceless Egyptian gold mask when passport photos go missing. Framed and hunted, Fantasio goes on the run while Spirou works to uncover the real villains and clear his friend’s name. To escape capture, Fantasio disguises himself and competes in a grueling six-day mountain endurance race called the Tour de Midiville. Spirou stays on the trail of the villains, racing against time to prove Fantasio’s innocence. The album also includes the Marsupilami short story "Touchez pas aux rouges-gorges" about Marsupilami’s close relationship with small birds in Count Champignac’s castle park, presumably during the events of La mauvaise tête. The book is known for its fast, cinematic storytelling, energetic line work, and noir mood, with many fans considering it one of Franquin’s best Spirou adventures.
