Everton F.C. 1995–96 season

Chairman: Peter Johnson | Manager: Joe Royle | Stadium: Goodison Park

In the FA Premier League, Everton finished 6th. They won the Charity Shield 1–0 against Blackburn Rovers but were knocked out early in the cups: Fourth round of the FA Cup and the Second round of the League Cup. In Europe, they reached the Second round of the Cup Winners’ Cup, their first European campaign in a decade.

The season’s star was Andrei Kanchelskis, who scored 16 goals in the league and 16 in all competitions, continuing his great form after joining from Manchester United.

Attendance varied from a high of 40,127 (home vs Aston Villa on 5 May 1996) to a low of 14,891 (home vs Millwall on 4 October 1995); the average league attendance was 35,435.

After the season, manager Joe Royle agreed to sell Gary Speed to Leeds United for £3.5 million.
