Jeff Dubay
Jeffrey Dubay (born January 19, 1968) is a former American radio personality from the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. He spent about 10 years as the co-host of KFAN’s PA and Dubay Show, a weekday morning program, and he also co-hosted The Judd and Dubay on ESPN. Dubay, nicknamed “Puffy,” worked as a co-host on Vikings Fan Line with former Vikings player Mike Morris and covered Minnesota Gophers hockey for Fox Sports Net. He was employed by the Minnesota Twins from 1986 to 1992.
Dubay’s outspoken style and a Sports Illustrated column about Kirby Puckett discussing teammates cheating on their wives damaged his friendships with Puckett and other Twins players. He is a Brown College graduate, and after his arrest his Brown College Broadcasting Wall of Fame picture was removed.
In October 2008, Dubay was arrested in Maplewood on felony possession of a controlled substance and was later charged with crack cocaine possession. KFAN terminated him on October 24, 2008. In January 2010 he was sentenced to six months in jail for failing to follow the terms of his probation, due to multiple failed drug tests.
Dubay attempted comebacks in media. In January 2013 he was hired to co-host the Judd and Dubay show on 1500 ESPN but was let go in January 2014. On February 18, 2014, it was announced that he would launch his own podcast as part of the Tom Barnard network, but on March 19, 2014 he was fired by Sean Barnard, the general manager of the Tom Barnard podcast network. The Jeff Dubay Show then launched on September 15, 2014 as a 60‑minute online podcast with producer Jason McGovern, carrying an explicit disclaimer and no FCC regulation.
On September 20, 2015, Dubay returned with the Purple Bierstube Rube Report, a Minnesota Vikings postgame podcast that was sponsor‑free, with donations accepted and ten percent of donations going to drug and alcohol treatment facilities in the Twin Cities area.
On February 20, 2017, Dubay announced a new show, The Mix, on KRWC 1360 AM, though it later disappeared from the air. He faced further legal trouble in October 2015 when he was arrested in Cottage Grove on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine; police found needles and a trace amount of meth in his possession. In December 2017, Dubay pled guilty to felony third‑degree assault of a woman in Cottage Grove.
