Antoinette Burton

Antoinette M. Burton (born 1961) is an American historian and professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She studied at Yale University and the University of Chicago. Her work focuses on the British Empire. Since 2015 she has directed the Humanities Research Institute at UIUC. In 2018 she was named a Presidential Fellow for the Illinois system, and in 2019 she became the Maybelle Leland Swanlund Endowed Chair at UIUC.
