Hypothalamic sulcus
Hypothalamic sulcus
Hypothalamic sulcus (sulcus of Monro) is a groove on the side wall of the third ventricle in the brain. It marks the boundary between the thalamus above and the hypothalamus below. The upper wall of the third ventricle is the alar lamina and the lower wall is the basal lamina; the sulcus separates these two parts. The groove runs from the interventricular foramen to the cerebral aqueduct.
