Hirapur Assembly constituency
Hirapur Assembly constituency was a legislative seat in the Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, India. It was part of the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency existed from 1957 until 2011, when the Delimitation Commission abolished it. The area is now part of the Asansol Dakshin Assembly constituency.
In elections, the seat often had many candidates, but the notable winners include: in 2006, Amitava Mukhopadhyay of the CPI(M) defeated Moloy Ghatak of the Trinamool Congress; in 2001, Moloy Ghatak (Trinamool) defeated Dilip Ghosh (Independent). The Burnpur area was previously part of the Asansol assembly constituency before Hirapur was created.
