Harenchi
Harenchi is the third studio album by Chanmina, a South Korean–Japanese rapper and singer. It was released on October 13, 2021, by Warner Music Japan. The title ハレンチ translates to “shameless.”
The album runs about 49 minutes and is in Japanese. It was produced by Jigg, Ryosuke “Dr. R” Sakai, Bena, Tido, and Adam Kapit.
Harenchi includes songs from Chanmina’s 2020 EPs Note-book: Me. and Note-book: U., as well as the B-side “Morning Mood,” which was released together with the single “Bijin.”
Singles and promos: The lead single “Angel” came out digitally on July 24, 2020 and was released physically on September 9, 2020. The second single “Bijin” followed digitally on March 19, 2021 and physically on April 14, 2021. Both singles peaked at number 15 on the Oricon Singles Chart. Promotional tracks “Voice Memo No. 5” (from Note-book: Me.) and “Picky” (from Note-book U.) were included on the album, and the title track “Harenchi” was released as a promotional single about a month before the album.
Editions and extras: The standard edition has 16 tracks. The limited edition includes a bonus DVD with live performances from The Princess Project tour at Nakano Sunplaza. Early first press releases offered bonus items like a smartphone hand strap; some retailers, such as Amazon, offered a mega jacket, and standard stores included a sticker sheet.
Promotion and tour: Chanmina completed the final show of The Princess Project tour at Nippon Budokan in October 2021, around the album’s release.
Chart performance: Harenchi debuted at number 16 on the Oricon Albums Chart and at number 11 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart.
Later impact: In December 2024, the album re-entered the Oricon chart at number 66, and it reached a new peak at number 5 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart for the week of February 10, 2025. A TV audition program featuring Chanmina helped renew interest in the album in 2024.
