Sir James Colquhoun, 3rd Baronet, of Luss
Sir James Colquhoun, 3rd Baronet, of Luss (28 September 1774 – 3 February 1836) was a Scottish nobleman and politician. He served as the Member of Parliament for Dumbartonshire from 1799 to 1806. In 1799 he married the writer Janet Sinclair; he was a major at the time and did not share her religious zeal. He was the heir to an estate in Dunbartonshire. It has been suggested that he and his wife were the models for the characters Rabina and George Colwan in James Hogg’s The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner.
