Fatal Cure is a medical thriller by Robin Cook. It follows Angela and David Wilson, two young doctors, and their 9-year-old daughter who has cystic fibrosis. They move to a small town in Vermont to start new jobs: David becomes an internist for a local HMO and Angela works as a pathologist at the hospital. At first, the town seems calm, but soon patients at the hospital begin dying early. The hospital grounds are terrorized by a rapist, and the family discovers a dead body in their basement. Angela faces sexual harassment, and David clashes with the HMO bosses for spending too much time with patients and ordering many tests. They end up fired, deeply in debt, and their lives are threatened. The story closes with a dramatic ending that has hints of Silence of the Lambs.
