GMS Durango LMP1
The GMS Durango LMP1 was a Le Mans Prototype built for Durango by GMS in 2000. It started with a 4.0-litre BMW V8 engine prepared by Mader (2000–2001) and switched in 2002 to a Judd GV4 4.0-litre V10. The car raced on Goodyear and Avon tyres.
Competition history
- 2000: Debuted in Brno with drivers Andrea de Lorenzi and Soheil Ayari, finishing 10th overall (8th in SR). Earlier, an entry for Spa was planned but not attended. The season also included 9th at Donington and 6th at Magny-Cours, with a 5th at Kyalami. Durango finished 7th in the SR Team’s Championship with 23 points.
- 2001: The team attempted the Daytona 24 Hours but did not race. They later entered Magny-Cours with Ayari/de Lorenzi, but the BMW engine failed to start. They did not race at Donington or Nürburgring. In a non-championship 6 Hours of Vallelunga, de Bono/Cioci won the SR1 class and finished second overall.
- 2002: Engine was changed to the Judd GV4 V10. The season saw several retirements due to gearbox failures (Estoril, Brno, Magny-Cours). The car finished 5th overall and 5th in SR1 at Spa-Francorchamps. Durango again finished 7th in the SR1 Team’s Championship with 14 points. The final race was the 6 Hours of Vallelunga, where Bruni, Maddalena, and Rugolo won, being the only SR1 entrant.
