Dieter Aschenborn (1915–2002) was a Namibian painter famous for painting African wildlife. He was the son of animal painter Hans Aschenborn. When he was six, his family moved from what is now Namibia to Stellenbosch in South Africa, and soon after to Kiel, Germany. He later worked as a farmer in South Africa. In World War II he was held in a camp. After the war he became the first game warden of Etosha National Park, a job he held until 1952. While in the park he began making leather paintings that made him well known in Southern Africa. He then moved to Windhoek and could live from his art alone.

Dieter also did drawings and sculptures, especially wood reliefs, and his murals decorate several public buildings in Namibia. He designed postage stamps for Namibia and painted on leather and parchment. His son, Uli Aschenborn, is also an artist.
