Ceriporiopsis
Ceriporiopsis is a genus of crust fungi in the family Phanerochaetaceae. It is widely distributed and includes about 25 species. The genus was defined in 1963 by Polish mycologist Stanisław Domański. Ceriporiopsis is considered a wastebasket taxon, grouping species that share similar macroscopic and microscopic traits but may not be closely related. These fungi grow as crusts on wood and cause white rot by breaking down the wood tissue. They have a monomitic hyphal system made up only of generative hyphae, which have clamp connections. The type species is Ceriporiopsis gilvescens. Older synonyms you may encounter include Porpomyces and Pouzaroporia. The genus belongs to the order Polyporales.
