100th Anniversary of the Republic of Turkey
The 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Turkey marks 100 years since the country proclaimed its republic. In 2023, official celebrations were coordinated by the Directorate of Communications, under the themes “Century of Turkey” and “Century of Stability.” More than 24,000 projects were carried out by 56 institutions.
A wide range of activities took place across sports, culture, education, and public life. Teams wore special centennial logos and jerseys, and fans created unique chants. Notable moments included choreographed displays before major football matches and city events such as a run on the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and a special dive by underwater diver Şahika Ercümen. Schools joined the celebration with days off, anniversary signs, and various competitions. Museums, books, and publications were released, and national media gave extensive coverage.

- Monuments and decorations: 100th Year monuments proposed or begun in Ankara and Edirne; widespread flag displays; free metro services on celebration day; a large official ceremony and parade in Ankara.
- Regional celebrations: extensive programs, concerts, exhibitions, and contests in Istanbul, Bursa, İzmir, and other cities.
The centerpiece of the celebrations was a ceremony at Anıtkabir on October 29, attended by President Erdoğan and other officials, followed by a civil-military parade in Ankara. Across the country, people joined in the festivities by decorating homes, shops, and cars with flags, reflecting the nationwide spirit of the centennial.
