Ricky Donell Minard Jr. is a former American professional basketball player. Born on September 11, 1982 in Mansfield, Ohio, he is 6 feet 5 inches tall and played as a guard. He starred at Morehead State University, where he is the program’s all-time leading scorer.

Minard was selected in the 2004 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings in the second round (48th overall). He was signed in July 2004 but was waived in November, so he never played in an NBA game. He began his pro career with the Columbus Riverdragons in the NBDL, then moved to Europe in 2005.

Over the next dozen years, he played for many teams across Europe and beyond, including Biella (Italy), Reggiana (Italy), Sutor Montegrano (Italy), Virtus Roma (Italy), Khimki Moscow Region (Russia), UNICS Kazan (Russia), Azovmash Mariupol (Ukraine), Casale (Italy), Virtus Bologna (Italy), Beşiktaş (Turkey), Budivelnyk Kyiv (Ukraine), SPO Rouen Basket (France), BG Göttingen (Germany), and Tampereen Pyrintö (Finland).

His honors include a EuroCup championship in 2011 and Ukrainian League and Ukrainian Cup titles in 2014.

Minard is remembered as Morehead State’s career scoring leader and for his long professional career across international leagues.
