Eileen Carron
Eileen Dupuch Carron, CMG, (born 13 March 1930) is a Bahamian lawyer and newspaper publisher. She was born in Nassau to journalist Étienne Dupuch and Marie. She studied at Queen's College and St. Francis Xavier's Academy, then in England at St Francis' College. She earned a BA in philosophy from St. Michael's College, University of Toronto, and a master's in journalism from Columbia University. She studied law at King's College London. In 1962 she became assistant editor of The Tribune in Nassau and was called to the Bahamas Bar that year. In 1972 she became publisher of The Tribune, the second woman in the Bahamas to hold that role. By 2019 she had served 47 years as editor and publisher, the longest in the country. She has been honored by the International Press Institute for her commitment to free press and high standards. In 1993 she became the first CEO of The People's Radio Station, 100 JAMZ. In her twenties she was the Bahamas' first female pilot. She is the only Bahamian whose editorial has been read into the United States Senate record. In 2000 she was named a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George.
