Between Queens and the Cities
Between Queens and the Cities is Niranjan Kunwar’s English memoir. It traces his life as a gay man who moves between Kathmandu and New York City from 1999 to 2019. Kunwar left Kathmandu for New York in 1999 at age 19 and later returned to Kathmandu. Published on December 5, 2020 by FinePrint, it is considered Nepal’s first English queer memoir. The book highlights the challenges LGBTQ people face in Nepali society. It has been well received by critics and readers, with Sahina Shrestha calling it a beautifully crafted coming-of-age story in the Nepali Times.
