Axiotis
Axiotis is a Greek surname. The male form is Axiotis, and the female form is Axioti or Axiotou. It comes from the Greek word axios, meaning "worthy" or "fit," with the suffix -tis. Variant spellings include Axioti, Assiotis, Assioti, Aksiotis and other forms. There is also a possible link to Axiós, the river god and the ancient name for the Orontes and Vardar rivers. Another theory connects Axios to a Thracian word meaning "not shining," related to the Avestan word for "dark-coloured."
