Giovan Tomaso di Maio (also Majo or Mayo) was an Italian composer who lived about 1490 to after 1548. He is best known for writing villanelle, a popular Renaissance song form that spread across Italy. He is considered part of the Neapolitan school, along with Giovanni Domenico da Nola. Some of his works were published around 1546, helping to popularize these pieces throughout Italy.
