1979 Llanelli Borough Council election

An election for Llanelli Borough Council was held in May 1979. It followed the 1976 election and preceded the 1983 election. The same day also saw the UK general election and elections to other district councils and community councils in Wales. The council's leader was Michael Willis Gimblett, who had held the post since the last election. Bowen had previously been elected as a Labour candidate in 1973 and 1976.
