Shake is the first posthumous studio album by American singer-songwriter Sam Cooke, released in January 1965. The rhythm and blues/soul album runs 32:11 and was released on RCA Victor, produced by Hugo & Luigi and Al Schmitt. In Cooke’s discography, it follows Sam Cooke at the Copa (1964) and precedes Try a Little Love (1965). Two years after its release, the melody and arrangement from the track “Yeah Man” were used for Arthur Conley and Otis Redding’s hit “Sweet Soul Music,” leading to a lawsuit, a settlement, and songwriting credit for Cooke’s estate. All tracks were composed by Sam Cooke, except where indicated.
