Plot
Beatrice Arnold cares for her father and younger brother Jimmy. She is saved from drowning by Trix Ulner, a local card shark who falls for her, much to her fiancé Johnny Fletcher. Beatrice learns Jimmy has been embezzling money to pay gambling debts to a man named Frank. Beatrice asks Ulner to help recover the money. Ulner and Jimmy plot to steal it from Frank’s house, but Frank shoots Jimmy. To protect Jimmy’s reputation, Ulner forces Frank to tell authorities that Jimmy died protecting Frank from the burglar. In the end, Beatrice marries Johnny, and Ulner vows to reform his ways.

Reception
Critics were mixed. Variety called the story incoherent and the direction draggy, though it had a strong supporting cast and could still bring money to exhibitors. Moving Picture World praised Lon Chaney’s restrained performance and suggested the film would be profitable. Motion Picture News highlighted Chaney’s emotional range and the film’s engaging moments.
