1956 Delaware gubernatorial election
The election was held on November 6, 1956. Incumbent Republican Governor J. Caleb Boggs defeated Democrat James Hoge Tyler McConnell, winning 51.95% of the vote (91,965) to 48.05% (85,047). Nominations were decided at party conventions: the Democratic convention was on August 30 in Dover, and the Republican convention on August 29 at the Capitol Theater in Dover. Boggs remained governor.
