Zihni Çakır
Zihni Çakır (born 1969 in Nizip) is a Turkish journalist and author who has written several books about the Ergenekon organization. He studied at Ankara University and worked in media, including as editor-in-chief of Türkeli. In 2008 he was sentenced to 18 months in prison for violating the secrecy of an investigation related to Ergenekon. In 2009 he said a court forced him to reveal his sources for his book Kod adı darbe, which argued that Özdemir Sabancı’s murder was organized by Abdullah Çatlı, Hüseyin Kocadağ and a military officer named Hüseyin Pepekal. He has said that the Ergenekon leader, whom he called "Number One," was involved in the 1997 memorandum and later testified that this person visited Türkeli during his time there.
