By the People, for the People is a Mudvayne compilation album released on November 27, 2007 by Epic Records. Fans helped choose the track list, and the band decided which version of each song to include (live, demo, or acoustic). The album adds two new songs: "Dull Boy" and a cover of The Police's "King of Pain," both produced by Dave Fortman.

If you pre-ordered through the Sony Music Store, you got a free, signed and numbered lithograph of the lyrics to "Dull Boy." If you ordered after the release, the lithograph was shipped later and wasn’t signed or numbered.

The album presents each song with a short interlude (about 30 seconds) where Chad Gray explains details like where the song was recorded or what makes a demo different from a studio version.

It debuted at number 51 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 22,000 copies in its first week.

All tracks were written by Chad Gray, Greg Tribbett, Ryan Martinie, and Matthew McDonough, unless noted otherwise.
