Talmest (تالمست) is a small town and rural commune in Essaouira Province, in Morocco’s Marrakesh-Safi region. The 2014 census counted 4,328 people. Located about 60 km northeast of Essaouira along the N1 highway, it has direct road links to Safi, Essaouira, and Agadir. The landscape is arid to semi-arid, part of the coast-to-interior plains transition. The population is mainly Amazigh and Arab, and Darija (Moroccan Arabic) is the common language. The economy centers on farming, livestock trading, and Argan oil, and the town acts as a souk (market) for nearby villages.

Administratively, Talmest is the administrative center of the Rural Commune of Talmest, within the Caïdat and Cercle of Talmest, Essaouira Province. It became part of the Marrakesh-Safi region after Morocco’s 2015 regional reform (previously Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz). The area has primary and secondary schools and a local health center.
