Yasuhiro Morinaga
Yasuhiro Morinaga, born August 1, 1980, in Tokyo, is a sound artist who works with field recording, experimental music, and ethnographic film. He creates sound design and directs music for feature films, documentaries, performing arts, and collaborative installations, often using musique concrète. His projects blend anthropology and storytelling, using ethnographic methods to explore the origins of musical instruments, the beliefs and rituals around them, and the technologies of indigenous peoples. His work invites people to notice their senses. He also curates the ethnographic media lab CONCRETE. Since 2021 he has lived in Lisbon, Portugal, giving public lectures, workshops, and mentorships at universities and other organizations. He has been active in the field since 2007.
