Edie is a 2017 British drama film directed by Simon Hunter. It follows Edith “Edie” Moore, an elderly, gruff widow whose husband has just died, leaving her estranged from her daughter Nancy. With plans for Edie to move into a retirement home looming, she decides to take a long‑awaited solo trip to climb Suilven in the Scottish Highlands—a dream she once shared with her husband, who kept her at home.

Cast and production
The film stars Sheila Hancock as Edie, with Kevin Guthrie and Paul Brannigan in supporting roles. Elizabeth O’Halloran wrote the script, and Debbie Wiseman composed the music. Principal photography took place in 2016 in the Scottish Highlands, notably Lochinver and the mountain Suilven. Hancock herself completed the climb, and she has said she was the oldest person to do so.
