Work to Do is a funk song by The Isley Brothers, released in 1972 on the album Brother, Brother, Brother. Written and produced by the group, the song is about a man who wants to spend time with his partner but has to work. The single lasts 3:11. It reached #51 on the US pop chart and #11 on the R&B chart. The B-side was “Beautiful,” and it was released on the T-Neck label.
Vanessa Williams version
In 1992, Vanessa Williams recorded a cover of Work to Do for her album The Comfort Zone (recorded in 1991). Her version runs 4:36 and was produced by Dr. Jam, Gerry Brown, and Phase 5. It became a Top 5 R&B hit in the US, reaching #3, and hit #8 on the Dance chart. It was the fifth and final single from The Comfort Zone. The remix was done by Kenny "Dope" Gonzales and "Little" Louie Vega. The song is also featured on the MLB The Show 25 soundtrack.
