WhatCulture
WhatCulture is a British online entertainment news site and magazine launched in 2006 by Peter Willis and Matt Holmes as ObsessedWithFilm. It covers news about professional wrestling, television, films, music, video games and board games. It began in Newcastle upon Tyne and moved to Baltic Place in 2015. The YouTube presence started with a channel in 2011, with its first video posted in 2014, and a separate channel WhatCulture Wrestling launched in December 2014. In 2015 Adam Blampied became the first regular host on the wrestling channel, and a team of hosts including Adam Pacitti, Kenny McIntosh, Sam Driver, Jack G. King, Ross Tweddell and Simon Miller grew the brand. They ran a kayfabe-style online feud between Blampied’s supporters (B-X) and Pacitti’s supporters. WhatCulture expanded to red carpet coverage, WWE Raw, and San Diego Comic-Con panels, and launched WhatCulture Pro Wrestling (WCPW), which was later rebranded as Defiant Wrestling in 2017. A Loaded web series featuring Bea Priestley and Gabriel Kidd returned to YouTube in 2018. On September 19, 2017, Blampied, Pacitti, Tweddell, Driver and King left to form Cultaholic. Blampied later left due to past misconduct issues. Defiant Wrestling faced financial problems and closed in August 2019. In March 2022 WhatCulture was acquired by Future Publishing.
