1953–54 in Belgian football

The 1953–54 season was the 51st season of competitive football in Belgium. RSC Anderlechtois won their 5th Division I title.

Belgian Cup
- The Belgian Cup resumed this season, and Standard Liège won the final against RC Mechelen KM.

National team and World Cup
- Belgium qualified for the 1954 FIFA World Cup in Switzerland.
- In qualifying, Belgium finished first in Group 2 with 7 points, ahead of Sweden and Finland.
- In the World Cup finals, Belgium was in Group 4 with England, Italy, and Switzerland. The format had the two seeded teams (England and Italy) playing the two unseeded teams (Belgium and Switzerland).
- Belgium drew with England after extra time (4–4) and lost to Italy.
- Switzerland beat England and beat Italy, and then beat Italy again in a playoff to take the second qualifying spot from the group.
- Belgium finished last in Group 4 with 1 point.

Promotion and relegation
- Relegations from Division I: Daring Club de Bruxelles and K Lyra moved down to Division II.
- Promotions to Division I: Division II winners K Waterschei SV Thor and runner-up RRC de Bruxelles joined Division I.
- Relegations from Division II: RUS Tournaisienne and K Tubantia FC dropped to Division III.
- Promotions to Division II: Division III winners KFC Izegem and SRU Verviers moved up.
- Relegations from Division III to Promotion: Rupel SK, K Olse Merksem SC, K Winterslag FC, and R Herve FC were relegated.
- Promotions from Promotion to Division II: RRFC Montegnée, RFC Bressoux, RAA Louviéroise, and KSV Waregem joined Division II.

Top scorer
- Hippolyte Van Den Bosch (RSC Anderlechtois) with 29 goals.
